FAQ
How can I insure my fatbike?
Phatfour Nederland works with FietsZeker, an international insurance company specially tailored to fatbikes. Click here for more information.
What can I do to optimise my range?
Several factors influence the maximum distance you can reach.
Tyre pressure
The correct tyre pressure varies per model:
- FLX, FLXS and FLX+: 2.0 bar
- FLB+ and FLS+: 2.3 bar
- FLB: 1.8 bar front, 2.3 bar rear
When the tyre pressure is too low, the range can drop by as much as 35%.
Weight
The total weight of rider and load affects the range. The higher the weight, the faster the battery drains.
Assistance
The way you ride has a big influence on consumption. On high assistance you use more energy from the battery than in ECO mode.
In city traffic you also use more, because you accelerate more often at traffic lights. At a constant speed, consumption is considerably lower.
Weather conditions
The weather also plays a role. At an outdoor temperature of around 5°C, the range can drop by about 20%.
Switching off the battery
Switch off the battery when the bike is not in use. This applies only to the FLB+. The motor controller uses about 4 watts. If the battery stays on, it slowly drains.

Make an appointment with your dealer to have the bike checked. This is important for the lifespan and optimal operation of your fatbike.
How often does my fatbike need servicing?
Phatfour's fatbikes are carefully built and delivered ready to ride. It's normal for some parts to loosen slightly over time.
To let you ride carefree for years, we recommend the following maintenance schedule:
- After 250 km: first service
- After 1,500 km: second service
- After 2,500 km: third service
Services can be carried out at a Phatfour dealer.
Our dealers can, among other things, check and carry out:
- Adjusting the brakes

Does cold temperature affect my fatbike's battery?
The outdoor temperature affects your battery's performance. A battery's range and power are best at warmer temperatures.
You can use your fatbike safely in winter too. However, we advise charging the bike preferably at room temperature.
If you park the bike in the cold, make sure the battery is not completely empty.
Regardless of temperature: unplug it as soon as the battery is fully charged.
Want to store the bike for a longer period? Then make sure the battery is charged to around 40–60%. This best preserves the battery's performance.

Please note: local rules or exceptions can differ per country or situation. Therefore always check the applicable regulations in the country where you ride.
